2026 Albemarle Challenge Cup

Greetings Sailors,

Your ASSA Board has one more meeting on July 16 to finalize plans for the 2026 Albemarle Challenge Cup, to be held September 10-13 and hosted by the Osprey Yacht Club at the Albemarle Plantation in Hertford, NC.  

As a heads up, the cost will be $100 per boat ($150 if postmarked after August 29; $25 discount if you raced in the spring race) and dinner tickets will be somewhere around $40-$45 each.  We are planning to move the catered dinner that requires dinner tickets to Saturday night, with a live band, Saunders, Kelly, and the Other Guy.  (we had this band last year and they are great!)  We're still planning a welcome reception and packet pick up hosted by OYC on Thursday evening, Pizza and Salad Bar Friday night, and your ASSA Board will host an abbreviated Awards shindig on Sunday, with food and libations and the goal of getting everyone home to rest after three days of racing.  

We will have three days of racing, short, middle distance, and long courses are planned, AND!!!!!!! Spinnakers will be allowed for all boats in all classes if declared on the registration form with an 8 sec/mile correction on the PHRF rating.  Once a spinnaker is declared and registration submitted, the adjusted PHRF rating will not be changed.     

The NOR with finalized plans will be put out after our July 16 meeting.
